Toni Cupal
Co-Founder, Healer
Toni has been studying Ninniku Okyū in the traditional apprenticeship system with Mukund Subramanian since the fall of 2012. In 2016, he gave her the blessing to begin practicing the work.
Toni began her journey in this life as a geeky kid who loved gymnastics and math and romping around the mountains of Wyoming. She majored in Physics at the University of Wyoming and then obtained masters’ degrees in business and engineering from Stanford University. After retiring from high tech product marketing work after the births of her children, Toni worked on child abuse and environmental issues through involvement with several non-profit organizations. After a move to London in 2007, Toni began practicing yoga and became a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher in 2009. Her interest in healing developed out of her desire to support students more deeply. In 2011, she first experienced the depth of Mukund Subramanian’s work and realized the importance of helping him pass on the tradition of Ninniku Okyū. Something moved her to shyly ask him to be his first student in 2012. Despite what he considered to be a very weak resume for intuitive work, Mukund agreed to at least try to teach her. He explained that the work cannot be taught, but that they could try to set up the conditions under which she might receive the gift. After three years of dedicated effort, the gift did begin to come through and Mukund invited Toni to create Healing Cultures with him. They now practice the healing work together and Toni continues to teach yoga where she is attempting to bring the deeper healing concepts into the yoga practice. She is enjoying exploring how to bring the elements of healing into her public and private yoga classes. In doing this work, Toni draws from the healing training from Mukund as well as her studies of Jivamukti Yoga and the Yoga Tune-Up Method. Toni is deeply grateful for each opportunity to support someone in their healing journey either through yoga class or treatments. It is always a profound adventure.

Louis Jackson
Director, Yoga and Healing Support
With a deep curiosity in breathing mechanics, gut massage, and interoception, Louis is exploring the intersection of practicing yoga (25 years), teaching it, and the deeper interventions that “intuitive healing” offers. He’ll help you renovate your body for your own healing habits.
His initial skepticism with “healing work” transformed after an intense three month Ninniku Okyu treatment with Mukund and Toni where he directly experienced the subtle power of this sophisticated, nuanced and innovative approach. Those sessions shifted his spiritual paradigm, made him laugh violently (at himself mostly), and gave him tools to befriend the many faces of fear. He’s proud to be part of the inaugural Healing Cultures Training program where he’s being guided to his fullest creative potential. He’s honored to be able to help folks develop their own healing culture. He promises to not let his BA from Stanford get in the way.

Marguerite Goguely
Wellness Center Manager
marguerite@healingcultures.org
Marguerite joined Healing Cultures in 2019 and is deeply grateful to be supporting the mission of the organization through community building and the creation of the Wellness Center.
After completing a degree in Humanistic Studies at McGill University in Montréal, Marguerite went on to study graphic design in Paris. In 2018, she completed a powerfully transformative yoga teacher training course in Chiang Mai, Thailand. From this traditional, immersive yoga training in the Anusara lineage, she came away with a deep understanding of yoga not only as a spiritual practice, but as a practice for healing the mind, body and spirit. Cultivating the mind-body-heart-connection has been a deeply healing experience for her and she hopes to share it with others. She found guidance and support to develop this intention with Toni and Mukund and is grateful to both for their welcoming and sharing of their spiritual practice. As a part of this amazing team, she is excited to develop and grow the Healing Cultures community through shared experiences and practices.
We at Healing Cultures want to acknowledge and thank Dr. Arvind Ramanathan for his creativity and work in designing our Healing Cultures logo, and Lucas Freitas-Groff for his help in the design and creation of our website.
We also want to acknowledge and extend our deepest gratitude to Rebecca McCue, our former Executive Director, for everything she has offered the organization and the Healing Cultures community.
We are so deeply grateful to each of you!
