Ōmuro Toyo Sama’s Family
Healing Cultures connections to Japan are also critical to our work. Mukund and Toni make an annual pilgrimage to spend time with people, temples and places that are important to our work and in paying respect to our teachers and lineage in Japan. They visit their teacher, Ōmuro Toyo Sama’s, children and altar and the places that were important to her practice.
Kobayashi Family
Mukund and Toni also visit the family that makes the high quality moghusa herb that we use for the Ninniku Okyū treatments. The Kobayashi family has been manufacturing moghusa for seven generations.
In addition to making moghusa, Masahiro Kobayashi, the current President of Kobayashi-rouho, is also working with Japanese organic tea farmers to market their exceptional organic teas. He offers these teas in his tea house in Japan and they are also available at many Healing Cultures satsang events.
Kakizaki Village
Omuro Toyo Sama spent her life in the fishing village of Kakizaki in the very north of Honshu, the main island of Japan. Mukund lived in Kakizaki in the 1990’s when he was studying with Omuro Toyo Sama. Toni and Mukund now visit their every year to see old friends and pay respect at the temples where she practiced throughout her life.
